Seed quality involves both the genetic and the physiological quality of seeds. In this section, the general principles and methods for selection of seed source and improvement of seed quality through genetic selection are presented. Genetic improvement of seed quality is based on the seeds' ability to produce trees that are genetically well suited to the sites where planted and for the products desired.
