Phenotype Selection for Fusiform Rust Resistance
Open-pollinated progenies from fusiform-rust-free slashpines selected in a 94-percent infected plantation in Mississippi were all more resistant to artificial inoculation than seedlings from a bulk seed lot. Only one rust-infected parent transmitted any appreciable degree of resistance to its progeny.
