Reforestation Value of Seedlings and Transplants
The use of red pine transplants in reforestation of nonpodzolic sandy soils with less than 5 tons of weeds per acre is not justified. The extra $30 per acre for transplants cannot be recovered with a reasonable interest by plantations growing at a rate of not more than 1 cord per acre per year on short rotations.
