Adjustable Loading and Unloading Conveyor

Most forest tree nurseries load seedling delivery trucks by hand. This can be difficult and time consuming when loading a truck with a quarter million trees when each packing bundle weighs about 40 pounds. This is further complicated when the top of the truck side boards are 8 feet or more from the ground. Hand loading at the Edwards State Nursery required five men on the ground to keep one man busy placing seedling bundles on the truck. To eliminate this difficulty, a conveyor was designed that is hydraulically adjustable to any height from 2 to 9 feet (fig. 1). A pickup truck can be loaded or bundles placed over the top of high side boards. The reversible switch allows the conveyor to be used for unloading. The conveyor belt uses only two men on the truck and one on the ground to complete the loading and unloading procedure.
