Forest Tree Nurseries in the U.S.

This list shows, by states and class of operator, the country's forest tree (and a few other) nurseries, and their production in fiscal year 1950. That data for the publicly-owned and forest-industry-owned nurseries was gotten through various offices of the U.S. Forest Service, Soil Conservation: Service, State Foresters, etc., while that for the commercial nurseries was compiled mostly from information sent to Mr. Richard White, Executive Secretary for the American Association of Nurserymen in response to his request published in the Association's newsletter. A few others are listed from information secured directly by the Forest Service. Unfortunately, many important companies did not respond so the commercial listing is admittedly incomplete and must not be used as a measure of the commercial output of forest planting stock.
