Height Control of Interior Spruce by Means of Photoperiodic Induction
Four blackout periods were each applied for 3 durations to control height in interior spruce species at Red Rock Research Station (RRRS). In all six seedlots tested, height control could be achieved without significantly impacting end of season root collar diameter (caliper) or root mass. This finding is contrary to current nursery dogma. Evidence of physiological changes within treatment will be the basis for further studies at RRRS.
