Containerized Seedlings On The Lincoln National Forest

Survival rates of ponderosa pine planted as nursery stock, direct seed, and various container types were compared. Book planters, Styroblocks and nursery stock performed similarly (average survival 30 percent). Conwed tubes, peat blocks, and direct seeding each had low survival (10 percent or less).
