Propagule Collection: Seeds were hand collected August 13, 2002.
Propagule Processing: Seed was stored dry in sealed containers at 2-4 C. for approximatly 3 years before germination trial.
Pre-Planting Treatments: 2 replicates of 10 seeds each recieved a cold and moist treatment of 2-4 Celsius for 0, 2, and 4 weeks. The petri dishes were checked for germination for a period of 3 weeks following there treatments. The results were that O weeks produced 25% germination, 2 weeks produced 95%, and 4 weeks produced 70% germination.
A short cold and moist period of 2-4 weeks at 2-4 Celsius enhanced germination of this species.
Growing Area Preparation/
Annual Practices for Perennial Crops:
Seeds were moved to 20D/10N following pretreatment. Seeds were held with 12 hrs light durring all stages of germ trial.
Establishment Phase: Seeds were transplanted off blotter paper and into soilless media if they were found to have germinated. Young germlings were moved to Rootrainers containing soil less medium following germination. germlings remained on mist table with bottom heat for Approximately 2 weeks before moving into greenhouse at 25D/10N C.
