Pre-Planting Treatments: In our trials, Phyllodoce breweri seeds needed a cold period to break dormancy and we saw no germination when they were placed in our warm growth chamber (70F days and 50F nights). When treated with 60 days of cold (38F) beforehand there was a germination rate of 48% seen, higher than the 37% seen in the seeds kept solely in the cool treatment until germination.
