Propagule Processing: METHOD OF CLEANING: Seed lot is first processed using a Westrup Model LA-P Laboratory Clipper/De-awner, to remove seed from stems, (bracteole wings do not need to be removed in this species). Seeds are then finished by air-screening, to remove chaff and inert material, using an office Clipper, with a top screen: 18 round (2nd run, 12 triangle) and a bottom screen: 1/18 round (2nd run, 1/25 round), medium speed, and low to medium air. Number of Seeds per Pound: 130,300 Purity: 93%, X-Ray 100 Seeds: 80% Filled, Moisture Content: 5.3%
Harvesting, Storage and Shipping: Storage: Cold Storage, 33-38 Degrees Fahrenheit
Other Comments: Bracteole does not need to be removed from this seed. Wild collections of this seed average only a 50% fill. There is also a variation in density in filled and unfilled seed as well as variation in seed size, that does not correlate with fill percents.
