Two seedlots were run through the Westrup Brush Machine twice using medium stiff brushes, and a coarse shell (size 10 wire), at speed 11 to separate seeds from the inflorescences. Seeds fell through the bottom of the machine. Seeds from one of the two seedlots were aspirated once at 0.01 inches of water column to remove the light trash and then cleaned with 8/64" and 6/64" round hole screens to remove heavier weight trash. Three seedlots were run through the brush machine once. Seeds from one seedlot was aspirated at 0.01 inches of water column to remove light weight trash then scalped with an 80/1000 inch round hole screen to remove large size trash. Seeds from the second seedlot were apirated at 0.02 inches of water column to remove light trash then cleaned with an indent cylinder (size 24), and 1/20 x 1/2" slotted screen to remove large trash and sticks. No additional cleaning was performed on the seeds of the third seedlot following the brush machine because it was not needed. |
