Family Scientific Name: Asteraceae
Family Common Name: Aster
Scientific Name: Parthenium integrifolium
Common Name: wild quinine
Propagation Goal: seeds
Propagation Method: seed
ProductType: Propagules (seeds, cuttings, poles, etc.)
Time To Grow: 0
Propagule Processing: Two seedlots were run through the WestrupBrush Machine once with medium stiff brushes, and a coarse shell (size 10 wire), at speed 11 to remove the seeds from the flower heads. One seedlot was run through the machine twice and another seedlot was run through 3 times. Seeds came out the chute end of the machine. Two seedlots were not run through the brush machine.
Seeds from the two seedlots cleaned in the brush machine were aspirated at 0.01 inches of water column to remove the light trash. One of the two seedlots were aspirated 3 times.
For the seedlot that was run through the brush machine 3 times, the seeds were run over a 12/64" round hole screen after the first time through the brush machine to remove large size trash. A 8/64" round hole screen was use to remove smaller size trash after the third run through the brush machine.
The following two seelots were not run through the brush machine because the seeds had already fallen out of the flower heads. The third seedlot was aspirated at 0.02 inches of water column once; fourth seedlot was aspirated at 0.03 inches of water column twice to remove light weight trash. Slotted screen 12 x 3/4 " was used to remove sticks and 9.5/64" round hole screen was used to remove small sticks.
