Biography:
As the Southern Nursery Specialist, I provide nursery technical assistance to 13 southern states. My undergraduate degree is in Plant Biology from Purdue University and my master’s degree is in Forest Resources from the University of Idaho. After graduate school, I worked at the USFS Coeur d’Alene Nursery as the container operations manager for 12 years, where I oversaw the annual production of 3.5 million conifer seedlings and over 90 species of native shrubs, grasses, and forbs (including threatened and endangered species). Working at an operational nursery, I also have experience with bareroot seedling production, integrated pest management practices, seed/cone collection, seed increase, and seed cleaning and storage. I am excited to continue to support nurseries in a new capacity with the State, Private, and Tribal Forestry and look forward to learning, collaborating, and expanding the nursery and reforestation network.
