Ripe and past fruits were collected from the ground.
Seeds are cleaned from the white, fleshy fruits immediately after collection to avoid fungus problems.
Seeds were planted in a commercial potting soil directly in containers.
Only a few seeds were planted at a time but germination percentages are consistently high.
Seedlings are established in 2 weeks.
Following establishment, growth rate is moderate to fairly rapid.
Seedlings are hardend for 1 month prior to out-planting.

Genetic variation is noted on different islands. May be important to keep the genetic material separate. St. Croix material is similar to plants on Puerto Rican island of Vieces.
