Walter Beineke is professor emeritus Department of Forestry and Natural Resources at Purdue University where he taught dendrology and forest genetics for 35 years. His research involved the genetic improvement of black walnut. He established the nursery in 1990 to promote the planting of natives in landscaping, reclamation and restoration. The nursery carries about 30 species of hardwood trees and shrubs and about 35 species of wildflowers and ferns of various sizes, ages and prices.
Nursery is 10 miles west of town.
