Biography:
Matt Horning is a program manager for USDA Forest Service International Programs – Office of the Chief (USFS-IP) based in Bend, Oregon USA. His primary responsibilities are to manage USFS-IP's western Monarch butterfly portfolio and to provide leadership and technical expertise in reforestation and nurseries supporting the Forest Service's mission to share knowledge globally. Through this work Matt has established extensive partnerships with a diverse array of agency, university, and NGO cooperators and funders in rare species conservation and natural resources management. Matt consults and trains domestic and international natural resource specialists on numerous aspects of nursery, revegetation, and reforestation practices, and has developed and implemented USFS international nursery and reforestation projects in Algeria, Morocco, Jordan, West Bank, Zimbabwe, Fiji, Papua New Guinea, Vietnam, Cambodia, and the Pacific Island Reforestation Initiative.
