Estimate Heritability of Sprouting from a Partially Thinned Plantation

In a black walnut progeny test plantation, the two smallest trees within a five-tree-plot were thinned. Number of sprouts on each stump was recorded. This paper presents a procedure to calculate single tree heritability of sprouting based on the thinned trees.
