Monitoring Viability of Overwintering Container Stock in the Prairies ? An Overview of a Five Year Lodgepole Pine Study

Overwintering viability of first year containerized lodgepole pine seedlings was monitored using a series of morphological assessments, dormancy tests and freezing tolerance(cold hardiness) tests. Results presented outline the phenology of dormancy and cold hardiness development. The impact of environmental factors is discussed in relation to the overwintering success.
